The United States has been inundated with mysterious, unidentified objects in recent weeks. First, things were set off in early February by a Chinese spy balloon that made its way across the entire country before being shot down off the coast of South Carolina.
But things have really ramped up since then, with unidentified objects being spotted and shot down in both Alaska and the Yukon territory of Canada.
And, most recently, an object was also spotted flying over Lake Huron, and it was downed as well by an American F-16 jet, which blasted this unmanned (probably) craft out of the sky with a heat-seeking Sidewinder missile.
There’s just one problem, though: The first shot completely missed the target.
Two F-16s were involved in shooting down the Lake Huron UFO, as the first missile was unable to detect and lock on to the target, landing “harmlessly” into the lake after it didn’t fuse. So now there’s a random missile now sitting at the bottom of Lake Huron.
But as the United States has recently gotten trigger-happy over these unidentified objects – and has actually shown a penchant for trying to take down mysterious objects for decades now, even if they end up being entire planets in the sky – it does force us to consider the fact that the military is now up in our own airspace firing missiles, something that’s never really happened before.
The military assessed the best way to shoot down the object over Lake Huron while considering the protection of the American people, which is why it happened over the lake in the first place. But that still means there was an errant missile in our skies – what happens the next time when an F-16 might not be so lucky to be over the water? And don’t even get me started on what’s going on with the F-35 jets flying around the country these days…
