Bigfoot – or Sasquatch to others – is an enduring mystery in North America, with hundreds of sightings alone across the entire United States. With very little physical evidence to speak of (depending on who you ask), how does this woodland ape continue to evade humanity’s grasp each and every year? What would ever happen if we did finally come across one?
These are just a couple of the questions the North American Wood Ape Conservancy (NAWAC) aim to answer. With members all over the world, the NAWAC is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 organization that is dedicated to “studying the North American wood ape, the animal many people call ‘bigfoot’ or ‘sasquatch.'”
What’s the North American Wood Ape Conservancy All About?
Much of the organization’s work is dedicated to not only researching the North American wood ape and chronicling evidence of its existence – accomplished in part through a database of reported encounters – but also educating the public about this creature. Like any reputable organization in the 21st century, NAWAC has a social media presence, along with a regular newsletter to keep all Bigfoot enthusiasts apprised of the latest research and information.
If you want to join the NAWAC and be among some like-minded individuals dedicated to finding Sasquatch, you can apply for membership to the organization here. NAWAC membership is tiered between what they call Associates and Investigators. Associates are entry-level members who want to play a supportive role in the organization, even if it’s not from an investigative standpoint. Investigators are the ones out there putting their lives on the line, risking an attack from Bigfoot out in the dense forests of our country, all in the name of science.
No matter where you fall on the spectrum of Sasquatch interest, there is a home for you in the North American Wood Ape Conservancy.
