If you’ve ever been to a Dunkin’ location and visited the bathroom, you know you’re probably putting your life into some sort of jeopardy. The things often seen in there weren’t meant for human eyes, but it’s unfortunately something we’ve all had to deal with in our own way.
In Winter Park, Florida, one man has perhaps experienced the worst a Dunkin’ bathroom has to offer, as an exploding toilet in one of the chain’s restrooms left him with “severe and long-term injuries,” according to a recently filed lawsuit.
The explosion, which happened in January of 2022, left Paul Kerouac, who is seeking more than $100,000 in damages (which honestly seems way too low a request), covered in human feces, urine, and debris. Since that time, Kerouac has required mental health care and counseling, which again begs the question why he’s not seeking more restitution. This is one of those cases where the company really needs to pony up to help the person.
According to the lawsuit, after the incident (and surely after everyone in the Dunkin’ heard an exploding toilet), Kerouac walked out of the restroom seeking help from the staff, only to be told from employees that they were aware of some problem going on with the toilet. It’s doubtful they knew those issues – whatever they were – would result in an explosion, but still, Kerouac has a fine case for himself.
Any visit to a fast-food restroom with a peek inside a bathroom stall has likely made you wonder if those toilets didn’t explode themselves. Who knew it could actually happen?
